Taylor Price

12 November 2011

He’s had more chances than Taylor Price, Julian Edelman, and Matthew Slater. The coaches see something in Ochocinco that we don’t because the coaches have shown more faith in Ochocinco than the other receivers.

Through three preseason games, Brady has few favorites.

WR Taylor Price has five receptions, none from Brady. TE Rob Gronkowski, after a 42 reception and 10 touchdown rookie season, has just one catch. Chad Ochocinco came to New England via trade with high expectations but only has two receptions. WR Deion Branch doesn’t even have a reception.

themselves in homework to make the playbook second nature to them.

For receivers Brandon Tate and Taylor Price, they gotta bury their noses into the playbook from now until mini camp. Tate played his first full season while Price was adjusting from a run-first offense at the University of Ohio to New England’s wide open passing offense.

A few things I’m looking for:

A Good Stretch: Receivers Brandon Tate and Taylor Price are said to have deep speed. Please, Hoyer, go over the top and see if they can go get it.

Wake Up: Double or triple team OLB Cameron Wake. A division rival would love to ruin our post season prospects with a good lick on QB Tom Brady.

I want to see more of WRs Brandon Tate and Taylor Price and TEs Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski as a receiver. Gronk was good as a blocker with room for improvement.

3. My favorite rookie wasn’t ILB Brandon Spikes, but P Zoltan Mesko. Three punts landed inside the 20 and the Saints gained just one punt return yard on two attempts. Mesko will tilt the field during the season if he keeps this up.

an unexpected selection.

A Pair of Good Catches: I like the idea of taking a chance on WR Taylor Price, an under-utilized receiver from a run-first offense. We’ll see if he’s better with more opportunities. And WR Brandon Tate pretty much had a redshirt year with the Pats last year. Tate could send a message to the rest of the league for not drafting him in 2009.

And youngsters Brandon Tate, Julian Edelman and Taylor Price have the potential to be great. Matt Slater and Sam Aiken, as effective special teamers, have extra value to the team.

And with three talented tight ends on the roster, the Patriots might sacrifice a wide out to keep veteran Alge Crumpler and rookie Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

They have to settle for Taylor Price. He comes from a run first offense at the Ohio University and may be on the raw side. That also could mean Price is an untapped potential that could flouris

Most of the rookies might already be in attendance, but training camp doesn't officially begin until the veterans show up on Thursday. In anticipation, I spoke with FootballOutsiders.com creator Aaron Schatz and got his take on what to look for during camp:

well just for a chance to make the roster or hope for a position on the practice squad.

WR Taylor Price is the lucky one, as he was selected in the third round. Unless he completely bombs during training camp, Price will make the team in some way, shape, or form. He’s not in the gated neighborhoods of first or second rounders, but he does have a secure roof over his head. Fourth round and later guys get sheltered through camp. After that, they hope they don’t get the call to meet the turk and pack their bags.

24 April 2010

WR Taylor Price is the only small school prospect selected. Of the remaining eleven, six are from major programs while the rest have respectable football programs with a history of producing professional players. Maybe the coaching staff feels there’s more certainty with late round prospects than from big time programs. Considering the failures of some of their recent drafts, the Patriots need more sure things.

Will Urban Meyer become an assistant coach next?

WR Taylor Price, Ohio – I never heard of him. But the book on Price is he’s a deep threat with good size (6’0” 204). He’s still rough around the edges because he does come from a smaller school. He’ll run downfield routes until he understands the offense.
