The best stat from Thursday’s shredding of Tampa Bay is the Buccaneers out-gained New England 244 to 200. That’s total yards to rushing yards.

Once the Patriots stretched out the passing game, the ground game took over. By the end of the night the Pats gashed and slashed their way through a helpless T.B. defense. It was a thing of beauty.

It is just another road game. 

That’s the approach head coach Bill Belichick took with this game in London, England. Apparently the flight is about as long as a flight to a West Coast game. The accent is different, so is the venue, and the crowd behavior will be unique. But otherwise it’s just another game. It was a big deal the first time the NFL played a regular season game at Wembley Stadium, but there shouldn’t be any fuss about this overseas game.

We’ve been star-struck by the performances by receivers Wes Welker and Randy Moss, and 2. The Patriots got so little out of the position for the past two years, we barely noticed.

As the draft approaches, it's obvious that the Patriots need an outside linebacker that can effectively rush the quarterback and maybe another cornerback to add to the competition between Ellis Hobbs, Jonathan Wilhite, and Terrence Wheatley. Well now that the fans have had some time to adjust to the firing of Head Coach Jon Gruden, what is the mood like in Tampa?

I understand that teams struggle, and that many times coaches pay the price for it. I'm just not so sure that letting Gruden go was the best thing to do. While Tampa has been up and down the past few years there is more to notice than just Grudens ability or lack there of. in this modern era of winning and championships, Gruden has got to be heralded as the greatest coach in Bucs history delivering their only Super Bowl in 2002. They have had several playoff years in his tenure, and despite an unexpected collapse at the end of this season were on pace to make the playoffs again safter starting 9-3.

In the aftermath of Tony Dungy's recent retirement from the NFL, there really isn't much more I can say about him that hasn't already been said.  He proved that an NFL Head Coach doesn't have to yell and scream at his players in order to motivate them to play football.

A few teams that come to mind are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Not that there aren't any AFC teams that Cassel would be a good fit for, but I wouldn't trade him to direct competition. One rumor had Cassel being pursued by the New York Jets if Brett Favre retires. The Jets are a playoff ready team that doesn't have the patience for the unproven Kellen Clemens and his growing pains.

So I was 4 points off in my prediction last week as the Cardinals clinched the NFC West and with it a playoff birth. With the red birds in they’ll be looking for a favorable match up during wild card weekend, as it is unlikely the Giants will be dethroned as conference champions and one member of the South will undoubtedly take slot 2. The rest of the race is completely up in the air. Arizona can help shape their destiny today going against Minnesota, who is narrowly holding down a playoff spot in the NFC North.  The Cardinals looked poised to take the number three spot and judging by the strength of their remaining schedule they can as long as they topple the Vikings. With a difficult game against New England next week Arizona should have an easier going week 17 against the Seahawks.

A week filled with late game nervousness and dominant performances. The Texans were the ones doing the prowling as they tore apart the Bengals. 'America's Team' didn't look so sharp, but they found a way to win. The NFL brought a real shootout to London (hopefully no one was hurt!) and Brett Favre didn't look good for the second consecutive week, but thankfully for the Jets, they played the Chiefs. My crystal ball is back! The upset special portion was scrapped from last week's predictions due to the crystal ball's suspension, but after a lengthy talk and a few laughs the crystal ball has promised not to act up and has promised to get this week's upset special pick correct. Dallas has tumbled the past couple weeks with its injuries and an embarrassing loss to the Rams last week. Brad Johnson didn't look good against St.Louis as he made his first start in quite some time. He'll get the start again as Romo is not expected to return until mid-November. Dallas will face a good Tampa Bay team. Some could say Tampa could be favored in this game after everything Dallas has been through the last couple of weeks. Tampa does have the better record. Their coming off a drumming of the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football last week. I looked into my crystal ball and I saw the score and I saw the future. "Pleasant" is not a word that describes Cowboy fans' mood next week. My crystal ball is back. My crystal ball picks Tampa Bay!

The first guess from a Patriots fan would be 56, as in the first time in 56 games that Tom Brady was not listed on the injury report, he got injured. They might have a point, but I'd have to disagree. 56 also represents the jersey number for Andre Tippett who entered the Hall of Fame in August. So 56 isn't totally unlucky.

It's almost the same crew from the Patriots-Tampa Bay Buccaneers preseason game with Sterling Sharpe and Marshall Faulk. But listening to the broadcast, you wouldn't think so.

Just like the Patriots, Indy hasn't played franchise quarterback Peyton Manning all preseason long. In fact, Manning had surgery to remove an infected bursa sac in the knee with a six week recovery period. The Colts haven't won a preseason game and have looked bad on both sides of the ball. By halftime Buffalo was up 17-0. At one point near the end of the first half, Buffalo had 30+ offensive plays to the Colts' seven. Seven!

It's a full Patriot Panic regarding Tom Brady's sore foot. In a online poll hosted by Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight, 88 percent are concerned about the quarterback situation.

The worry is because of the poor play of the reserve QBs. If any performed well in either preseason game, anxiety levels wouldn't be so high that fans are window shopping free agent quarterbacks as a possible saftey net.

We're all familiar with an all points bulletin. This isn't as grand. This is a few points bulletin:

I want an independent investigation opened into Super Bowl XXXVII. Tampa Bay had an unfair advantage because head coach Jon Gruden coached the Raiders the year before and knew all of their plays. Anyone who's watched their Super Bowl highlight video hear jubilant defenders running to Gruden saying variations of "It was just like you told us." That's because he designed the offense Oakland ran and coached quarterback Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon on how to run the system. Gruden knew practically every strength, weakness and tendency of the Oakland offense and with the Bucs exploited the Raiders. Gruden didn't need video tape because it was all committed to memory. He's a cheater! Scandal!
