Ron Brace

21 December 2011

Hernandez stole the show from Tebow this week.

3. I’ve been waiting since DT Ron Brace was activated from the physically unable to perform list to mention his name. He was credited with just one solo tackle, but he forced a pivotal fumble in the second quarter. The offense cashed the turnover in for just a field goal but it turned the momentum in the Patriots’ favor. It was Brace’s first career forced fumble.

Play the game from ahead and challenge the Jets to catch up.

Rust Free: DLs Brandon Deaderick and Ron Brace have playing time under their belt. Their names will be called a lot now you-know-who ain’t around.

Belichick to move on without Haynesworth.

The decision became easy with DTs Brandon Deaderick and Ron Brace coming off the physically unable to perform list. It’s a two-for-one exchange that bolsters the depth of the D-line rotation. Belichick doesn’t need Haynesworth-less anymore.

Head coach Bill Belichick has three weeks to evaluate the quartet and decide whether to add them to the active roster or place them on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

If injuries continue to add up, Ron Brace and Brandon Deaderick can be activated off of the PUP list after week six. New England shouldn’t miss much, if anything, without Wright on the field.

(New England drafted six defensive linemen in 2009 and 2010 combined).

Players like Myron Pryor, Ron Brace, and Brandon Deaderick showed signs they can play in the NFL. And because they are young, there is still a lot of potential yet to be untapped. They could develop into solid players for a long time.

They played without DL Ron Brace, Mike Wright, and Myron Pryor. The unit of Brace, Vince Wilfork and Brandon Deaderick was the team’s best run-stopping unit. Wright and Pryor were effective pass rushers. Without the full rotation, the Jets gained 120 rushing yards and QB Mark Sanchez wasn’t sacked.

That starts Sunday afternoon.

A few things I’m looking for:

A Thin Line: DLs Ron Brace and Mike Wright are on IR and Myron Pryor is doubtful. Jets will be without RT Damien Woody. The reinforcements have to step up big time.

25 December 2010

Mike Wright, Ron Brace, and Myron Pryor have combined to miss eleven games according to me. Wright and Pryor have missed the past four games; Pryor missed the last six.

It caught up to the Patriots against Green Bay. Without a full rotation to work with, the remaining defensive linemen played more and got worn down. A Packers team that averaged 98.8 yards per game pounded away for 143 yards.

Pryor was a sixth round pick out of Kentucky the same year the Patriots selected Ron Brace in the second round. By the end of the season it was Pryor getting consistent reps while Brace was regularly deactivated.

Expect a bigger contribution from them, as well as S Pat Chung, DL Ron Brace and WR Brandon Tate getting on the field often in 2010.

And this year’s class of rookies could be as good, if not better. CB Devin McCourty and LB Brandon Spikes could be starters. TEs Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez likely will surpass the contribution of the duo they are replacing, Benjamin Watson and Chris Baker. Zoltan Mesko is the new punter. And DL Brandon Deaderick made the active roster as a seventh round selection.

Brace yourself. DE Ron Brace played in his first game and had a decent game. He will be remembered for the forced fumble, but Brace flashed some ability to beat his blocker and get in the backfield. It was against the second unit, so Brace still has to prove he can produce against tougher competition.

Myron Pryor will be in the mix and Ron Brace looks to rebound from a disappointing rookie season. Rookies Kade Weston and Brandon Deaderick will set their sights on just making the team.

He has good size, and it looks like he can stay healthy. The Dark Horse perhaps?

Ron Brace 6'3" 330

Springfield's own Ron Brace was somewhat of a disappointment in 2009, and he admitted his head was spinning in his first year as a pro. Did Brace figure it out? We'll see. But as we saw with Vince Wilfork this year, you don't have to be 6'6" to play RDE. If Mike Wright's the favorite,

Defensive Line

Vince Wilfork, Mike Wright, Ty Warren, Ron Brace, Myron Pryor, Darryl Richard, Adrian Grady, Damione Lewis

Need: 4

Wilfork will anchor the line, playing the nose or end. With the security of a new contract, he will remain with the Patriots for the next five years. Wright likely becomes the starter after Jarvis Green left for Denver. Warren remains solid, though unspectacular.

Advantage: Rookies

Defensive Tackle – Even though Ron Brace was drafted higher, it is Myron Pryor getting PT. Because he plays in a 3-4 and is part of a rotation of five regulars, Pryor doesn’t pad his stats. But it is worth noting Myron has more tackles than first rounders B.J. Raji, Tyson Jackson, Jerry Peria, and Evander Hood. Advantage: Pryor

Two of them will fight for either a roster spot or a spot on the practice squad. Ron Brace, the second round selection, is getting a lot of reps during training camp at end. Whether that’s insurance for Seymour’s eventual departure or just for enhancing depth is unknown. But at 6-3 330 pounds, Brace has the size to play the nose. He held his ground very well at Boston College.

2011 and now the addition of Chung, the Patriots have a solid young corps of safeties.

Ron Brace: This pick scared me, or at the very least put the possibility of seeing Vince Wilfork depart in my head. Though Todd McShay says he could play defensive end, this guy looks like a nose tackle to just about everyone. Hopefully, he's a three-technique as well and he's more like a Jarvis Green-replacerrather than a Wilfork-replacer.

The other prospect that could contribute now is DT Ron Brace. Otherwise, I'm not wild about S Patrick Chung and OT Sebastian Vollmer. Chung can hit and play the run, but is a liability in pass coverage. and Vollner sounds like a year or two project for the right side.
