Reche Caldwell

But we haven’t seen such a costly drop since a pass bounced off of a wide open Reche Caldwell in the 2006 AFC Championship versus Indianapolis. The white of Caldwell’s eyes still haunt me like the smile of the Chesire Cat, keeping me up at night.

New England thought the combination of Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney could replace the departures. Nowhere close. The offense suffered, and the replacements didn’t make plays Branch and Givens consistently did.

es, but the need wasn't as severe as New England's.
The Patriots got to the AFC Championship with Reche Caldwell as the team leader in receptions and yards. the following off-season the Patriots re-made the receiving corps by signing Donte' Stallworth and trading for Wes Welker. The draft-day trade for Moss completed the transformation.
