Also, CB Mike Richardson was released. That leaves just one player from the 2007 rookie class (safety Brandon Merriweather) that remains with the team. Hopefully Richardson washed the jersey before turning it in because as quickly as he hung it up, it was on the back of RB Chris Taylor.

Is it really as simple as plugging in the holes? It's very possible that Ellis Hobbs gets switched over from RCB to LCB. The left corner typically covers the opponent's primary receiver, the toughest assignment. I can't imagine that head coach Bill Belichick would start a rookie right out of training camp on the most dangerous receiver.

I'm talking about Mike Richardson. He was drafted in the sixth round out of Notre Dame and held his own during the preseason before he suffered an arm injury that led to being placed on IR. I expect Richardson to be healthy and ready to compete against the veterans and likely draft pick. But Richardson has an advantage because he has a year learning the system. If he understands his role, the physical part should come easy.
