Mark Sanchez

10 October 2011

They sacked Jets QB Mark Sanchez twice on the afternoon, raising the season total up to eight in five games.

6. Before the game the Boston Bruins were on the field with the Stanley Cup and were saluted by the Gillette Stadium crowd. The contents of a Gatorade bottle were emptied onto the Flying Elvis logo. That goes back to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals when Nathan Horton poured water from the TD Garden ice onto the Rogers Arena surface before the game. The Bruins won that game, and the Patriots won yesterday. The Bruins are weeks too late to save the Red Sox.

Watch out for field goal or punt blocks.

Double Clutch: In a small sample of Jets QB Mark Sanchez, big things happen when he hesitates to throw the ball, whether it’s a big gain or a horrible turnover.

ay how much they miss the two-time Pro Bowler.

CB Check-up: You can guarantee that Jets QB Mark Sanchez will be instructed to go after Darius Butler and rookie Devin McCourty instead of constantly throwing to check down receivers.

With momentum on the Jets’ side, QB Mark Sanchez threw a 29-yard touchdown to WR Jerricho Cotchery to close within 10 in the third quarter.

CBS put up an interesting statistic during the game. From 2002-08, the Patriots were 66-1 when leading at halftime. This year the Pats are 6-3. Obviously they have problems closing out games.

The New York Jets have the league’s best rushing offense. Can they shut it down? QB Mark Sanchez is reeling after a great start. Will his problems persist or will he have a bounce back game? And after getting toasted by Colts receiver Reggie Wayne, can CB Jonathan Wilhite and the rest of the secondary handle Braylon Edwards and the Jets receiving corps?

In between, the pass rush didn’t keep Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez company.

While getting stops when you absolutely need them is great, the ability to generate big plays at any time matters as well.

I'm not going to pretend I saw the writing on the wall before Richard Seymour was sent to Oakland just before the regular season began. But the apparent fact is that the New England Patriots are a different team than the one that won three out of four Super Bowls in the first half of the decade, or even the ones that came within a half of playing the Bears in Super Bowl 41, or went 16-0 only to lose in the final moments of Super Bowl 43.

itzes.

Hold the Line – New York will run a lot to keep the pressure off of rookie QB Mark Sanchez. If the defense can make the Jets one dimensional, it could become a long day for the former Trojan.

Talk all you want about the “potential” of Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez, but if you’re looking for an immediate impact quarterback in the 2009 draft, look no further than the diminutive Pat White of West Virginia. To use the old cliche that probably became a cliche because it used to be considered an invaluable trait, the guy is simply a play-maker. Sure, he “only” stands 6′0 1/4 and weighs 197 lbs., but this is a player who isn’t afraid to put the team on his back in crunch time and make the game-deciding play. Still, the story of his life has been one of under-appreciation, and the tale of this year’s draft is looking like yet another chapter.
