Kyle Arrington

5 December 2011

Naturally, the ball was recovered by the human loose ball vacuum, CB Kyle Arrington.

3. It was ruled a fumble when RB Kevin Faulk hit the ground on a three yard gain in the first quarter. But when the replay was shown, head coach Bill Belichick reached for his red challenge flag. After further review, Faulk was down by contact and the play was reversed. Belichick has been money when challenging plays this season. He has won six of eight challenges.

How does Kyle Arrington do it?

Have you ever watched Arrington closely? He looks like an average cornerback. Nothing about him stands out. He stands only 5-10. His arms look ripped, but you wouldn’t say he’s above-average athletically. He doesn’t excel in press coverage. Heck, it doesn’t look like Arrington excels at any particular coverage skill.

CB Kyle Arrington had two interceptions in a game for the second time this season (first time in the loss to Buffalo). He is now the sole NFL leader in interceptions with seven.

6. Seen in the crowd was a man wearing a turkey apron and a sasquatch wearing a Tom Brady jersey. Two clear indications that A. Thanksgiving is this week, and B. Winter is right around the corner.

Maybe if the defense charged baggage fees it would deter opponents from passing so much.

5. CB Kyle Arrington was the only defender to do anything positive as he picked off two Fitzpatrick passes. It is Arrington’s first career two interceptions game.

With Dowling getting plenty of action, Kyle Arrington was the loser in the exchange as he was demoted. But the former Hofstra product still has his knack for being in the right place at the right time as he came away with an interception off of a deflection.

the ball in the quarterback’s hands.

This isn’t a far fetched idea, as Belichick used Kyle Arrington as a blitzer last year. We even saw Arrington positioned at defensive end with his hand on the ground. Arrington didn’t get any sacks, but it is pressure Belichick wants. Arrington did an OK job, but Dowling’s build can make him a better blitzer than Arrington.

ng, envisioned as a cover corner for big receivers, is waiting behind Devin McCourty, Leigh Bodden, Kyle Arrington, and Darius Butler. Marcus Cannon slid further back with All-Pro guard Logan Mankins re-signed.

as cut in favor of Pierre Woods, who was cut in favor of Eric Moore.

For goodness sakes CB Kyle Arrington is sometimes rushing the passer with a hand on the ground!

But a better pass rush doesn’t solve all the problems. The Patriots are playing a dangerous game with a generous defense that could cost the team dearly later.

arius Butler, but freelancing and doing his own thang led to Butler being benched while Ivy Leaguer Kyle Arrington worked his way from rookie free agent to starter.

After five weeks in the starting lineup, Arrington has one play of note – tight coverage in the end zone that prevented a touchdown. Otherwise he hasn’t shown to be an upgrade over Butler.

OLB Tully Banta-Cain was replaced by rookie Jermaine Cunningham and CB Kyle Arrington was moved ahead of Darius Butler.

Head coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t say either decision was a benching. Belichick said the team has to improve in all areas and the changes could just be cases of adjusting to match-ups.

Cornerback Need: 4

Bodden established himself as the top corner on the team. But who will start opposite of Bodden? Based on his rookie season, Butler looks like he has the potential to start on the left side. Wilhite had his chance last year and failed. Springs was decent when he played, but he started just eight games. Wheatley slipped further down the depth chart. Arrington hasn’t established himself with the team.
