Julian Edelman

5 January 2010

he attention went to his replacement known as “Mini Wes” to some (I prefer Fat Welker), Julian Edelman

Sunday Edelman had a Welker-like day as he caught 10 passes for 103 yards, including a 25-yard catch and run that would make Wes proud of Edelman.

On offense WR Julian Edelman and OT Sebastian Vollmer returned to action as well.

2. It’s a little embarrassing that the Patriots couldn’t force a Carolina turnover even though the Panthers are near the top in turnovers lost. It’s doubly-embarrassing that New England turned the ball over three times to the Panthers. The icing on the cake was the eight dropped passes by the offense.

WR Randy Moss burned the Colts secondary on 55 and 63-yard receptions.

2. Two firsts: WR Julian Edelman’s first touchdown reception and WR Isaiah Stanback’s first catch as a Patriot.

Advantage: Rookies

Wide Receiver – If Julian Edelman didn’t suffer a forearm injury against Tennessee in week six, he’d probably be higher than fifth in receptions. H

tory in2007 as 25 of 36 receptions were for first downs.

Galloway couldn’t do it and Julian Edelman gets the first shot to replace Gaffney. The converted quarterback from Kent State appears to be growing into the role as he doubled his receptions and almost tripled his yards from one the Denver loss to the Tennessee win.

I wish head coach Bill Belichick let Dennis Green do the post game press conference for him. I really needed to hear the Patriots let the Broncos off the hook. It was as if New England let off the gas in the second half offensively. I realize New England has a poor record playing in Denver but they can’t use that as an excuse. I don’t think the Broncos are three points better than the Patriots, but the Broncos made the plays and earned the overtime win.

While we may not know what Sam Aiken and Julian Edelman will contribute week to week, I’d take my chances with them over the 15-year veteran until Galloway learns the offense, if he ever does.

Grow Up Quick: DT Ron Brace and WR Julian Edelman got their names in the statistics book today. No time to bring them up slowly.

r.

Tate would be competing with Slater for that job, as well as going head-to-head against Julian Edelman for punt return duties. Tate was close to becoming the eleventh player in NCAA history to gain 1,000 yards in two return categories: punt return yards and kickoff return yards. Brandon had the speed, quickness, and instinct that could translate well to the pro level.

I have a problem with Julian Edelman. He shouldn’t be wearing number “11” when a perfectly good “82” is available. “11” should be set aside for when the Patriots retire Drew Bledsoe’s jersey.

hrows in particular weren’t on target, but otherwise, he needs to work off the rust.

Julian Edelman – I didn’t believe the Patriots were serious about converting Edelman into a receiver. He looked pretty serious working the slot and returning punts.

Lost in the hype of Tom Brady's return and Julian Edelman's Welker-like performance was the fact that the Patriots played the 4-3 defense almost exclusively against the Eagles. All off-season the biggest question has been who would fill Mike Vrabel's OLB spot in Bill Belichick's vaunted 3-4 defense, but with a deep group of talented defensive lineman, including rookie Myron Pryor who started and looked excellent, and other veterans experienced in the 4-3 defense like Derrick Burgess, Paris Lenon and Rob Ninkovich, the Patriots look like they may be considering a schematic change.

ck cleats that I could tell, but just a weird thing that I, an uber-Pats geek, noticed.

-- Rookie Julian Edelman continues to impress, making a collection of good grabs in his first day. There always seems to be one player that gets everyone excited in preseason and then disappears once the games start to count. It will be worth keeping an eye on Edelman though. If you haven't seen this video from "Joo Joo's" college days, I highly recommend it... it would rank near the top of Bill Simmons Unintentional Comedy Scale.

ion of the Boston Herald, there’s a small story about quarterback-turned-receiver/runningback Julian Edelman, when I noticed something about him.

Like a lot of receivers today, he’s wearing a low number. But he’s not wearing just any low number. I wasn’t sure looking at the jersey because Edelman had the ball tucked over the second number. But on the shorts, I was able to confirm my hunch: he had “11.”

While checking out highlights of the newest members of the New England Patriots on Youtube I stumbled across this video below. I can't tell what the funniest part of this is... the over the top Glory soundtrack music, the stiff as a board interviewer, or the silly faces Edleman is making. This is unintentional comedy at it's finest. At least the highlights of Edelman are pretty good.
