Boston Herald reporter John Tomase offered his personal apology and explanation in today's edition of the paper. This it what readers deserved and he explained himself satisfactorily. He owned up to it, and that's what I was hoping for. I can't predict the repercussions he will suffer through, but it might take a while to restore his name and regain the trust of the fans, players and coaches.

So where does the paper go from here? How about Herald reporter John Tomase writing a public apology to the Patriots and the fans for his report? He had the judgement to decide whether he had enough proof to confirm the rumor he was chasing. Either you know for sure and you go forward, it's not enough so kill it, or save it for later when you can the facts and can prove your story.
