Ageless: A tip of the hat to DE/LB Jason Taylor. He is in his 15th year and remains productive, as he’s second on Miami with six sacks and a forced fumble. New England’s quarterbacks won’t miss you when you finally walk away.

Bookends Battle: New England will have their hands full with OLBs Cameron Wake, Koa Misi, and Jason Taylor.
NFL’s Best Corners?: Miami’s Vonta Davis backed off that best cornerback duo in the NFL boast about himself and Steve Smith, but the Patriots will attack the mismatches in the secondary, not just them.

Reports have surfaced today that the New England Patriots have reached out to Jason Taylor again about joining the team. While we agree with Michael Lombardi that a pass rusher is about all the Pats are missing for another Super Bowl run, we're just not sold on Taylor being the answer.

Julius Peppers/Jason Taylor: I'm not sold that either Peppers or Taylor will be on the Patriots in 2009. And clearly Bill Belichick wouldn't have traded Vrabel under the assumption he would get Peppers or Taylor to replace him. Does that mean one of the young OLBs on the Pats will take over for Vrabel? At this point I think so. You've got Pierre Woods, Shawn Crable, Tully Banta-Cain and Vince Redd all set up for a depth chart battle in training camp. We have no way of knowing what Belichick really feels about any of them, but more likely than not I'd say one of them will be starting on opening Monday Night. Put me down for Pierre Woods as the favorite.

J.T. became available after he couldn’t come to an agreement with Washington over participation in the team’s off-season workout program (his 3.5 sacks helped the Redskins’ decision-making process). Because Taylor preferred to stay in Florida to work out, the Redskins released the six-time Pro Bowler.

The good news, Robertson's scouting report compares him to Washington Redskins DE Jason Taylor. In reality, what are the chances Darrell becomes that good? He was a player I thought New England-type player the Patriots would be interested in on the second day of the draft. Robertson had the right measurables, but the question is can he make the adjustment.

How about that first Miami game? After Cassel threw a pick-six to Dolphins DE Jason Taylor, the first unit was ushered back into the game to score one more touchdown. That's like, "How's that salt in your wound? Well have some tequila for your whiner's margarita!"

What better way to start my life as a sports blogger than this. It is my opening post, yet more importantly to the sports fan it is Pro Football Eve!!! That's right. Football is back and the 5 month holiday is "The Most wonderful Time of the Year", but only some of us will get presents. Santa Coughlin may be in the giving mood again. It is more likely however, that Giselle will lead the Patriot fans in a Marilyn Monroe inspired "Santa Bra-dy", asking for that "one thing, a ring".

Miami defensive end Jason Taylor has drawn a line in the sand. After a second place finish on Dancing With the Stars, he won't report for any off-season team functions, including training camp. They say it's his way of demanding a trade.
