They drafted DE Jared Odrick in the first round. He’s the final piece to a homegrown defensive line. 

That D-line is the centerpiece of a big and physical defense. 

The offense is built to be a power running unit that will wear opponents down and use play-action to open up the passing game.

edition of my mock draft, and just like the first, I project the Patriots selecting Penn State DT Jared Odrick. It makes practical sense, considering the need along the defensive line. But this choice goes against what I’d hope the Pats do, which is select Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham.

likely to spend their 22nd pick overall on a DL? In my first mock draft, I projected Penn State DT Jared Odrick as New England's selection. With Lewis now in the fold, that possibility decreases.

So it is probably a very solid bet of the Pats looking long and hard at Jared Odrick. Odrick is the only first round grade 3-4 defensive end. His build is similar to Seymour, and he plays with the nasty disposition the Hoodie is known to love. But is Odrick really as good as Seymour? Probably not. So the question remains is he worthy of the 22nd pick, or would the Patriots be better served on a playmaker?

our draft slot really is.

Lately most of Patriots Nation seems to be trending toward Penn State's Jared Odrick as good fit for the Patriots at the 22nd overall slot, especially with the departure of Jarvis Green to Denver. Odrick seems to have the size and intangibles to make a good 5-techinque, a position that Jarvis Green was ill fit for when he was thrust into it following the trade of Richard Seymour.

that both Seymour and Ty Warren were 1st round picks.

That is why I'm taking a long hard look at Jared Odrick at the 22nd spot in the draft. Odrick has the size, but we're still unsure if he has the strength necessary as a 5-technique.
