Eric Mangini

5 January 2011

That kind of in-depth information got Eric Mangini three wins over the Patriots. It was enough for Josh McDaniels when he coached Denver. Belichick is 5-4 against his protégés.

If you wanna make excuses, go ahead. Every time the Patriots lost to a fruit off the Belichick tree, New England finished with a better record. Gonna say QB Tom Brady didn’t play in 2008? Brady is 4-3 not counting those results to the Jets.

arly to say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

They said the same thing about Eric Mangini when he landed in the Big Apple. Thus far Mangini resembles a worm more than anything else.

f the ball.

Some coaches walked into a situation where the team is already in the coaches' image (Eric Mangini to Cleveland, Raheem Morris in Tampa Bay), but others must go player by player and decide whom can play the new scheme and who to cut. For the teams that will completely overhaul their defenses, their change likely means they will be after the kind of players New England would be interested in.

rdinators Romeo Crennel (defensive) and Charlie Weis (offensive) in 2005 then defensive coordinator Eric Mangini a year later makes me believe the Pats can say goodbye with minimal pain.

th coordinator in four years the team must replace (Defensive coordinators Romeo Crennel in '05 and Eric Mangini in '06, offensive coordinators Charlie Weis in '05, and now McDaniels). Considering Josh and Mangini are original products of the Patriots system and rose to become coordinators, it wouldn't be surprising if the next coordinator is a in-house promotion.

s week, not who they beat several weeks ago!

Short Shots:

Eric Mangini has been named the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.  I’m not sure why the Jets fired him in the first place?  The Jets are a decent team, but Favre just faded down the stretch…he’s just too old.  I’m not sure Mangini was entirely onboard with Farve’s acquisition in the first place.  I bet the Jets are kicking themselves for cutting Pennington.

quo;I’m not telling you if I’m retiring or not routine” again.  Their coach, Eric Mangini, got fired to boot!  Miami won the AFC East crown…that’s just absolutely amazing.  From 1-15 to 11-5…way to go Parcells and Sparano!

Rod Marinelli was canned after a 0-16 season with Detroit, snitch Eric Mangini was let go by the Jets for missing the playoffs two out of three years, and Cleveland had enough of Romeo Crennel after 40 losses in four seasons. Crennel and Mangini were both former defensive coordinators for the Patriots.

Each week, on Friday, I will look into my (never wrong, just misinformed) crystal ball and give my predictions for that weekend games.  I will always prognosticate on the Eagles and Cowboys games and then pick two more games of interest (to me, that is, not necessarily to you).  Keep in mind, that this is for entertainment purposes only, and that I do not endorse any sort of legal or illegal gambling.  That being said…let’s see what’s in my crystal ball!
