veterans with mainstays Vince Wilfork (28 years old), Mike Wright (28) and Ty Warren (29) welcoming Damione Lewis (32) and Gerard Warren (32). There are plenty of youthful hopefuls, but they aren’t guaranteed snaps, with Myron Pryor a likely exception after an encouraging rookie year.

Wilfork will anchor the line, playing the nose or end. With the security of a new contract, he will remain with the Patriots for the next five years. Wright likely becomes the starter after Jarvis Green left for Denver. Warren remains solid, though unspectacular.

Yesterday the Patriots signed DT Damione Lewis. the 6-2 301-pound Lewis is expected to be a reserve at nose tackle and defensive end.
Lewis has been a solid pro with high character. He was one of the leaders in Carolina's locker room. But after a season where his production dropped, the Panthers released Lewis.
