OT Mark LeVoir and TE Jason Pociask were claimed off of waivers. To make room for them, WR Chad Jackson and S John Lynch were released.

I thought Jackson was in the clear since he wasn't cut Saturday. He picked up his play in the last two games of the preseason, catching a touchdown in each game. But the mistakes were too much. He apparently ran the wrong route adjustment in game one of the preseason and tripped over his feet on a endzone fade route in game four. Both errors resulted in interceptions. The coaches had enough.

So in no specific order, here's several players who I think are close:

WR Chad Jackson - The touchdown he caught displayed some of the talent that is yet to be unleashed. That corner couldn't come close to covering Jackson. He's just too talented to give up on after just two years.

To make the team, you'll have to beat out a teammate.

For all of his talent, WR Chad Jackson is yet to break out. He played well against Philadelphia, catching two passes and a beautiful jump ball TD in the back right corner. But he can't feel comfortable when on the other side of the field C.J. Jones finished with three receptions for 70 yards and a touch. Even safety/receiver/gofer/beerguy/laundry attendant Ray Ventrone caught four for 49 yards.

Jones and Chad Jackson. Gutz was efficient, completing 14-of-20 passes for 217 yards. But that was against no better than the second string Eagles defense.

Lots of players can shine against inferior competition. Gutierrez proved during last year's preseason. What can he do against the elite? Maybe his performance goes down a little. That would be expected. But if Gutierrez can hold his own and move the offense, then that shows he's ready.
