ut don’t be surprised when the quotes resurface at convenient times for the team.

LB Angelo Craig was quietly released last week. The undrafted free agent that never played a snap with the Pats was in competition for the vacant OLB position. That leaves Pierre Woods, Tully Banta-Cain, Vince Redd, and Shawn Crable the remaining contestants for the job. For now.

someone on the roster steps up (among Pierre Woods, Tully Banta-Cain, Shawn Crable, Vince Redd, or Angelo Craig), New England completes a trade (with Oakland’s Derrick Burgess a current possibility), or the Patriots wait for teams to make cuts (Dallas’ Greg Ellis will be available if the Cowboys are unable to trade the 11-year veteran).

ready for defensive snaps, if he has the ability that is.

And that goes for Darrell Robertson and Angelo Craig. Maybe they turn out to be gems like Guyton is. But there's a possibility they'll turn out to be square pegs trying to fit in round holes since they played DE in college.

It gets harder and harder to find big 6-5 LBs. Maybe they'll give Cincinnati DE Angelo Craig a look. He has the size but lacks the bulk. He could make for a good late-round or rookie free agent project. The Pats seemed willing to do that with Justin Rogers, a Southern Methodist DE they tried out at OLB in the preseason. As long as the character red flags check out, Craig might be intriguing.
