Pick Six

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for nbenching WR Joey Galloway. While we may not know what Sam Aiken and Julian Edelman will contribute week to week, I’d take my chances with them over the 15-year veteran until Galloway learns the offense, if he ever does.

It took four games, but the Patriots finally have an interception, courtesy of CB Leigh Bodden. Nice tightrope job to stay inbounds! I have a feeling now that New England broke the ice, the picks will start adding up.

Two players who likely will have at least one int before the year is out are LB Gary Guyton and S Brandon Merriweather. Guyton might not play the run well, but he gets his hands on passes. And Merriweather was a step away from a turnover at least twice.

It’s been 622 plays since the last time New England fumbled the ball, and they did it twice. Once way to look at them is the first one ended the streak, and the second resets the counter for the beginning of a new streak.

The offense didn’t react like deer in headlights when they reached the redzone. They scored three touchdowns in five visits. And they did it against one of the best redzone defenses in the league.

It’s very troubling to see the defense carved by the quick RB Ray Rice for 103 yards on just eleven carries. He’s the second ball carrier to have an outstanding game against the defense, as Buffalo’s Fred Jackson had 140 total yards in the season opener. Hopefully it isn’t a regular occurrence because there are a lot of a good running back still coming.

Extra  point – Just like Major League Baseball plays with a pink bat once a year, the NFL players will wear pick cleats and gloves throughout October for breast cancer awareness. The league will auction off all special apparel with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and team charities. To bid on the products, go to www.NFLAuction.NFL.com.
