Two weeks ago, Taylor took a break from his dancing gig and visited the Dolphins. He visited with teammates in the locker room and, after a warm reception, decided to call on Parcells.
Taylor walked into a room where Parcells was watching tape, and Parcells ignored him. He looked at Taylor and went back to his work without saying a word.
That incensed Taylor.
That's straight from the pages of the Miami Herald. There was a lot of talk of Miami wanting to trade Jason Taylor, then the Dolphins denying it, followed by offering him for a first round pick. As of right now, Miami says they are not interested in trading Jason, which means they aren't interested in trading Jason Taylor for just anything.
If the situation between Taylor and Bill Parcells continues to deteriorate, it may reach the point of no return and they'll have to move Taylor for the sake of the locker room.
And if things reach beyond repair, then the price goes down for Taylor and Bill Belichick should be first to ring their phone. Maybe if Belichick offers the 2009 Draft second round pick acquired from the third round trade, that will be enough to extract that cancer from the 'Fins.
Based on the Patriots' recent track history, I would be optimistic of the prospect of Taylor as a Patriot:
Sammy Morris -- He went from back-up to Reggie Brown to sharing the load with Lawrence Maroney. When Maroney went down with an injury, Morris had his first 100-yard game. A week later, in his first career start, he broke the century mark again.
Heath Evans -- In six games with Miami, Evans had one carry. He was picked up mid-season and quickly got playing time, including running for a career high 84 yards against Miami and later scoring his first two touchdowns of his career against...yup, the Dolphins.
We Welker -- New England tried to sign Welker as a restricted free agent, but later struck a deal with Miami for his services. Miami got a second round pick. the Patriots got the best slot receiver in the league who finished tied for the league lead in receptions with 112.
So if the Dolphins want to throw Jason Taylor away, I'm all for it. Give him to the Pats and he can have and equal effect for New England's defense as well as groom the like of Pierre Woods and Shawn Crable.
Based on how badly the Dolpins got burned by their former players with the Pats, they won't make that mistake again. But it's worth trying for Taylor.
