Of Course Joey Porter Had to Bring Up Spygate This Week

Earlier this week I placed the over/under on when Joey Porter would open his big fat mouth and talk some smack to the Patriots at Thursday 12:01am and was confident in playing the under. I was right. Wednesday 3:30pm EST was when Porter fired his first, and unlikely last, salvo.

Here's a little nuggest from Ian Rapoport from the Boston Herald via Twitter: "Joey Porter says he's hated the Patriots since Steelers title games. 'Then I come to find out why we lost. You know what I'm talking about.'"

So yes he went to the uninformed well of Spygate to explain why he hates the Patriots. The trials and tribulations of the media witch hunt was well documented here on the blog. Yes we are biased because we worship at the alter of the Hoodie, but we also are firm believers in things called 'common sense' and 'logic'.

The last thing we want to do is allow Joey Porter's stupidity and complete lack of accountability to make us rehash one of the most overblown stories in sports history, but if you listen to those who know what goes on behind the scenes in the NFL you'd know that taping defensive signals is far from rare, and it would be huge stretch to think that it could somehow have had an effect on the outcome of a game.

The media enjoys attacking Bill Belichick because he doesn't make their jobs easy. The video taping incident should've been an open and shut case. The punishment was severe, huge fines and the loss of a first round draft pick. That's where it should've ended. But that wasn't enough for a mediocracy who had been waiting for something to fuel the fire of dislike they had for coach Belichick.

And now we still have morons like Joey Porter who still believe that the only reason the Patriots beat the Steelers in two  AFC Championship Games is because they had stolen their defensive signals.

Of course it does nothing to explain how Kordell Stewart and Ben Roethlisberger both had 3 interceptions those respective championship games, but hey, whatever helps Joey and his Pit Bulls sleep at night.
