Happy Friday everyone. There are only three weeks of regular season NFL games left so enjoy them. Soon we'll be in "the void" between the Pro Bowl and Draft but until then we have the playoffs to look forward to, or should I say the race for second place. Three more weeks for the following guys to turn it around, if not Stick a Fork in them because they are D-O-N-E....
Eli Manning - okay he's probably played just well enough to get one more season but come on, this guy is not the quarterback you want leading your franchise. Just look at him, he doesn't exactly have "Leader of Men" written all over him or even near him. He looks more likely to tear up if you dumped his books then threaten to tell his older brothers. Must've been tough growing up in Peyton (and Cooper's) shadow and clearly he's never been able to live up to either of them. By 2009 he'll be backing up Peyton in Indy, might as well just get literally into his shadow as well.
Alex Smith - Question entering 2007: How will Smith handle losing expert Offensive Coordinator yet horrid Head Coach Norv Turner? Answer: Not Well. He's still the youngest starting QB in the league (when he's actually playing) but aren't you supposed to get better with experience? Now the team is publicly questioning his toughness. That's a great way to build a young quarterback's confidence. If I were a 49ers fan I'd be hoping they take a QB with their second overall pick. Oh wait, they traded that pick to the Patriots. Thanks guys!
Shaun Alexander - Sorry Seahawk fans but you know it's true. 2005 Shaun Alexander is nothing but a memory. He got paid and now he looks like the next Emmitt Smith on Dancing with the Stars. Cut him and draft some fresh legs. You can get back to the eighth best team in the league. I believe in you.
Ravens QBs- In a conference with the Patriots, Colts and even the still-not-that-good Chargers you need OFFENSE to win games, especially in the playoffs. Your aging defense just isn't doing it anymore. Steve McNair was good once, but this isn't 2002. Kyle Boller was good once, but this isn't Cal. Troy Smith was good once, but the Ravens don't play Florida. Oh wait... Time to blow it up and start over.
Chad Pennington - I will always respect Chad, even as a Patriots fan, but it looks like his time as the Jets QB is coming to end. Hopefully he'll get a nice booing from the classy Jets fans one more time just for the memories.
Miami Dolphins - where to begin... any chance we can just relegate the whole team to the now-defunct NFL Europe for a season? Sure guys, Jon Beck was the QB you wanted all along in the draft. He looks like he's still in South America on his Mormon mission. Their defense lost their edge. Ted Ginn is okay, just what you want out of a top first round pick, to be okay. Looks like it will lean times for a while for the Phins.
Marvin Lewis - everyone forgave your team of thugs when you were winning. Now you're losing and guess who's going to take the fall? Here's a hint: It won't be Chad, Housh or Carson.
Philip Rivers - Watching LT walk away from him in disgust last weekend kind of sums it up. His throws seem to float, just begging to be picked off. Clearly Norv Turner's magic touch with QBs and offenses isn't quite working for Phil. Is there any doubt that this team would have at least three fewer losses with Drew Brees? I don't know who the team is turning on more, Turner or Rivers?
