Want a “Patriots Playmate”?

Oh yes ladies and gentleman, Mike Dussault does have a better half.  This is Lane Dussault, Mike Dussault’s wife and today Mike has offered me the opportunity to kick of the NFL season with a blog of my own.  At first, it seemed ridiculous, but if by some chance you are a dude trying to get his significant other interested in the NFL season this fall then listen up…It is true that if, by some chance, you do get your current gal interested in the NFL don’t expect the beer belching, stat loving, strategy watching buddy that you often sit on the couch with.  However, you will get a chick who will catch a few important facts and ask a few questions that make you look at her with new eyes.  Plus, she will look a heck of a lot better than most of the Patriot fan base.  You have now found yourself a “Patriot Playmate” if you will (who knows maybe one day I will shoot the calendar).  So back to my original question, “How do you get your honey interested in your favorite hobby?”  Well, let’s start with draft day, which just so happens to be today.  Honestly, if you can get your chick interested in this you are golden come August.  So my husband likes to make this day an event in our household and he starts by cooking a massive meal for me and his friends.  That is tip number one….cook for your mate and that will pull her in real quick. So while the food is bubbling and her stomach is growling she can sit on the couch waiting for the Patriot’s seventh round pick.  But, there is a lot to watch beforehand.  For example, peek her interest with the Chris Long story.  A son who is following in his dad’s footsteps grabs a girl’s heart strings everytime,.  Plus she’s seen the commercials she can recognize Howie Long in an instant.  Or give her a list of the top picks, and why certain teams might be interested in them.  Relay the Brady Quinn story from last year.  This top quarterback wasn’t picked early on and it sent the media into a frenzy.  Although it wasn’t on the cover of Us Weekly, the “shock and ahhh “ of it all was no different.  If she IS a gossip queen, get her to hate the Jets immature and obnoxious “boos”.  If she is PMSing it gets some aggression out, that won’t be taken out on you. “What losers!” So my point is, play to her interests.  There is no reason why you can’t spend draft day and the rest of the season together on the couch, along with your buddies enjoying the best of both worlds.  I too have become a fan.  Granted I may not watch for the same reasons my husband watches, but I do have a genuine love for the Patriots and the game itself…and I have a slew of friends who never thought that would happen.
