It's been a long two and three-quarters month since the Pats pursuit of perfection crashed in flames and this last week has gone by slower than March did but the end of the week is finally here and the 2008 NFL Draft is upon us. We'll be doing some blogging throughout the weekend with some guest bloggers. I'm not going to call it a "live blog" because there will be alcohol involved (which could be an advantage I guess) but there will consistent updates throughout the day especially for all things Patriots.
I find the draft to be one of the most anti-climactic events in sports. There's nearly three months of analysis before draft day gets here. Millions of scenarios are played out. In the end it never really plays out as exciting as you would hope. When your team finally selects their player you have five minutes of excitement, you imagine that player and how awesome he could potentially be, what number he might wear. Then, slowly the excitement fades and you realize it will be another 3 hours before your team selects another player, and it will probably be someone you've never heard of unless your name is Mel Kiper Jr. or Mel Kiper III. Anyway, with the Pats selecting in the top ten this will be about as interesting as things can get since they consistently pick in the 20s so I will make sure to enjoy it. Onto some linkage:
PFT feels bad for Judas Tomase. I don't. If the AGP doesn't produce a tape of the Rams walkthru Robert Kraft will own the Boston Herald and Tomase will be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.
Speaking of the Herald they actually have a great article today about Roman Phifer and why he thinks the Pats aren't too keen on drafting rookie LBs. Some really good insight and it reinforces my feeling the Pats could take Branden Albert at #7.
Here's a little more about Jerod Mayo who is getting more and more buzz the last couple days as a Pats target. Don't think they'd take him at #7 but if they trade down to the mid-first he could be the guy. Forgive me for posting an article about the Jets but if he projects inside of their 3-4 he'd project the same for the Pats.
