Hump Day Pats Linkage

Wow a crapload of Patriots news this morning and none of it is even draft related. After today I'll allow myself to really start to get excited for the draft to finally be here. It's looking more and more like the Pats could have an outside shot at Vernon Gholston though it would not surprise me one bit if he was there and they passed on him. I think the rumors of the Jets trading up to nab Darren McFadden are bologna (or baloney, whichever you prefer), and I can really see them wanting Gholston bad. As always, we'll see. On to today's King Sized Linkage...

The Patriots added TE Marcus Pollard and DL Kenny Smith yesterday. Smith was with the team in training camp last year and has likely been brought back again for training camp depth. Pollard spent all of his career with the Colts until last years disappointing season with the Seahawks. If he's healthy this is a good addition for the Pats since they were skinnier than Amy Winehouse's legs for TE depth.

The AGP will speak! The AGP will speak! May 13th. Mark you calendars.

Zach Thomas chose Dallas over the Pats due to his loyalty to the Dolphins. Whatever.

According to FOX 25 in Boston the Pats could be close to a deal with Ty Law. As much as I'd love to see a Pat from the glory days back in uniform I'm not sure how much Ty has left in the tank. Maybe as a Free Safety or a Nickelback. Starting Left Cornerback? Not so much.

The Patriots Ledger has a preview of some potential defensive draft picks for the Pats. They also remind us of the first and last drives by the Giants in the Super Bowl. Thanks guys.

Shalise Manza Young reminds us how much the Pats like to work the trades on draft day. Trades are really the only wild card to make this Saturday of any interest between the hours of about 4pm and 10pm, which is about how long it will be between the Pats first and second pick. Draft day always has so much hype building up to it, then once it gets here you remember how tedious it is. The 10 minutes before the Pats pick and the 5 minutes after are really what we've been waiting nearly three months for.
