If you're like me you're just about done with all this pre-draft hype. I am ready for the stupid thing to be here already. I can't even watch ESPN's ON THE CLOCK which isn't really about the draft but just another excuse for a super long Sportscenter with some football commentary woven in. The totally set-up Mel Kiper Jr. vs. Todd McShay debates make me hit the fast forward button every time. Nothing better than two "experts" getting faux fired up at each-others predictions when odds are both of them are totally wrong. Great television.
Apologies for the power outage in blog paradise this morning. Not sure if it's due to A) our recent explosion in popularity or B) (and more likely) the crappy server this blog runs on. Anyway we're pondering a move to a more reliable site in the future if this keeps up. Please bare with us until then. Now on to today's linkage.
Patriots blogging overlord Mike Reiss has been asked by yet another publication to make a pick in a mock crap and this time Vernon Gholston falls to #7 and Reiss pounces on him. Let me state for the record that it would be absolutely foolish for the Jets to pass on Gholston. I've said in the past that they should look at Matt Ryan and I still think he should be considered. But Gholston + Calvin Pace = Scary Jets Pass Rush and that's what is needed if they're ever going to have a shot at taking down the Patriots.
You guys may not believe this but just as the draft is approaching guess who just happened to pop back into the news? That's right the Assistant Golf Pro might be close to making a deal! Well it's only taken three months. I guess Peter King had something about in MMQB but I tend to zone out while trying to power through his five rambling pages. So does anyone find it a surprise that just like the AGP popped up right before the Super Bowl now he's popping up again just before the Draft? Let's just get this over with and move in once and for all.
Shalise Manza Young has a brief look at the Pats previously drafted Linebackers and Defensive Backs.
Per the Smoking Gun the Pats still want the 19-0 trademark. Why? I don't really know. Let's say they think they can go 19-0 in 2008.
