Thursday Patriots Linkage

We'll be posting our complete analysis of who we believe the Patriots are most likely to pick at #7 overall (assuming they don't trade down of course) tomorrow. I'm sure some Pats fans will take issue with who we pick but after a couple months of research we're finally ready to make our decision. Be on the look out for that tomorrow. On to today's linkage...

Mike Reiss has the Patriots signing Punter Scott Player. I don't even care if this guy can even punt anymore, he's got the best look of any NFL player currently in the league. It's hard to understand why Belichick loves old punters so much, there were a couple young guys in camp last year with "live legs" but both were cut. Wouldn't be surprising to see a draft pick used on a punter this year in the late rounds.

Christopher Gasper has a nice look at what Brandon "Hands of Stone" Meriweather has been up to this off-season. Glad to see he's working on his ball skills. Looks like he even ripped off the football film classic "The Program" by carrying a ball with him everywhere he goes. Wonder what if Belichick threatened him if he lost the ball like James Caan did to Omar Epps.

Meriweather was brought along slowly last year and while he did drop what should've been 5-6 interceptions he really started to come around at the end of the season and had some vicious hits in the AFC Championship Game. Whether he's at corner or safety he should have an impact in 2008.

Time Warner and the NFL Network are still at a standstill. I'm one of the millions of football fans getting screwed by their inability to get a deal done. We're closing in on two years now. I've given up hope.
