Friday Patriots Linkage

Auburn's Quentin Groves reportedly had heart surgery on March 27th, but he's supposedly okay and the problem has been fixed. That could very well be the case but "heart surgery" and "multi-million dollar investment" aren't two things that go very well together. I'd still love to see Groves on the Pats, but I'm a little unsure about using the #7 overall pick on him...

Bleacher Buzz makes a good point in regards to this weeks South Park Pats-hatefest episode. Let's not forget that the Broncos "cheated" as well and were fined/docked a draft pick.

The Dallas News Cowboys Blog reports another rumor that the Pats are interested in Pacman Jones. I highly, highly doubt this. Some may think the Pats are willing to take chances on guys like Randy Moss and Corey Dillon but Pacman is in a different stratosphere.

Pete Prisco takes a mock crap all over CBSSporstline. I usually refrain from posting the ultimate exercises in futility but it's Friday and there's not much Pats news out there so why not. He's got the Pats taking Florida's Derrick Harvey. I'm not totally sold on Harvey as much of what I read says that scouts are unsure how well he can make the transition to OLB.

Pats Blogger Overlord Mike Reiss has the Pats bringing in Tennessee Linebacker Jerod Mayo for a visit. Mayo was also mentioned by Todd McShouldn't-be-doing-Mock-Drafts on ESPN yesterday as a sleeper pick. One thing that is becoming clear is that while there isn't a Patrick Willis-esque MLB in this years draft there are some really solid lower round options out there like Mayo and Curtis Lofton.

Reiss also has Eugene Wilson making a positive impression in Tampa Bay. That's great he's doing so well in April but what are they going to think of him in October/November/December? Exactly.

Since it's Friday and I'm in a chipper mood here's one more mock crap from NBC Sports. Though I find it doubtful the Pats would take Glenn Dorsey if he was available when the Pats picked he'd have to be strongly considered. I just don't think he'll be there so it's a moot point.
