Another in a long list of Patriots Spygate Posts...

So allegedly supposedly the Assistant Golf Pro (who I've refused to mention by name here because he's just trying to grab his 15 minutes of fame at the expense of my favorite team) is close to reaching a deal with the NFL to finally talk. Well it's about time. We've only been hearing about him for nearly two months. First we heard he wasn't going to speak because the Patriots had a confidentiality agreement with him. Then we found out they never did. So what's been the hold up? Who knows. But by this point whatever this guy has better be something worse than just more tapes of defensive coach signals or the media who's been banging the Spygate drum since Day One back in September's gonna look pretty foolish.

If he has an actual tape of the Rams walk thru things could get interesting. But what I don't understand (if he had said tape) is how would a low level staffer manage to take something like that from the Patriots if it had been turned over to Belichick and company to be studied? Somehow amongst the madness of the Super Bowl the AGP, who was taping on the sidelines during the game, managed to get that tape back? Sounds fishy to me and I guess it's pointless to speculate at this point since he might not even have any proof that he or anyone else taped the walkthru.

Most likely at this point is that the AGP has tape of defensive signals from that Super Bowl. Though it wasn't announced during the initial investigation of Spygate I, word came out after Arlen Specter started banging his fist at the NFL that the Patriots admitted they had been taping defensive signals since Belichick started his tenure. The revelation of this information thus puts the kabosh on the AGP being able to do any further damage with simply videotape of more of the same. The Boston Globe article mentioned that they are still missing the end zone tape of Adam Vinatieri's game winning field goal in Super Bowl 36, a tape that would've been shot by the AGP. Could it be possible that the AGP pocketed that tape as a keepsake and it also just happened to contain the Rams defensive signals? That seems to be the most likely scenario to me.

Part of the delay in getting the AGP to talk to the NFL might be a result of the AGP realizing that what he has isn't really going to be all that damaging to the Pats. He may have tried to put a stop to all the madness, but it's too late. You've got angry Senators and lawsuits and national media coverage. This thing will not be over until he speaks, even if what he has turns out to be more of what we've already seen. Thus making it look like the AGP and every other Spygate article out there these days has comepletely wasted all of our time.
