The New England Patriots on Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket

Almost the entire nation was watching the end of the New England Patriots season last year. Well anyone with Direct TV that is. Customers with the Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket package all sat by held onto our seats at a chance to watch NFL history play out before us. As the regular season came to a close so did the undefeated regular season of the Patriots. Unfortunately they were not able to finish off the post season.

The New England Patriots don’t need your sympathy. The Patriots may have been robbed last Super Bowl by the New York Giants, but you’re talking about a team who many experts consider the finest in the NFL, capable of winning any Super Bowl in any given year. The Patriots aren’t the oldest team in the NFL, having been established in 1959 and then reestablished in 1971. However, they are a young and hungry team that enjoys winning championships. They have won three Super Bowls in all, and over a span of just four years. They also set a record in 2007 by winning 18 games straight—the first team since 1884!

How does the new season look for the Patriots? They are looking to “improve” upon their 16-0 loss, which with a Super Bowl win, would have been a perfect season comparable only to the 1972 Miami Dolphins. (Uh, not the Dolphins this year) Bill Belichick is returning as head coach (why fix a good thing?) and only some minor changes have been reported in the office, most notably the loss of Thomas Dimitroff Joel Collier. New personnel include Nick Caserio and Dom Capers who will join the recently-promoted Bill O'Brien.

New players on the field this season will include cornerbacks Lewis Sanders, Fernando Bryant, and Jason Webster. They will also inherit safety Tank Williams, wide receiver Sam Aiken, linebacker Victor Hobson and tight end Marcus Pollard. The draft is another story and if you heard about “Spygate” then you know the Patriots were punished by the NFL by forced forfeiture of their original first round pick. They had to make way with linebacker Jerod Mayo, cornerback Terrence Wheatley, linebacker Shawn Crable, quarterback Kevin O'Connell and cornerback Jonathan Wilhite. Rounding out the list was safety Matt Slater and linebacker Bo Ruud. Another developing story to keep an eye on is Willie Andrews, a defensive back, who was recently arrested and charged with an unsettling crime.

Will the New England Patriots repeat their success from last season? Hopefully not—another perfect season with a shocking Super Bowl upset would be too traumatic for New England fans.
